A Sample of My Work
As seen on CBC
During my six-week internship at CBC Kitchener-Waterloo, I worked as a reporter and audio/video editor.
Here's some notable headlines from my time working at CBC:
My first story for CBC; I followed it from pitch to print. I chased down students associated with the red square movement and interview them, and tracked down a relevant expert who could speak to the red squares' origins in Quebec.
This story was an assignment that I became invested in and made my own; there was some trouble finding a living relative in Canada to quote for the story.
Through some online sleuthing, I tracked down a family member in Ohio who was knowledgeable about the Macdonald family ancestry and had a photo of Ranald she was willing to share.
It was a positive experience to be able bring forth new information on a story with a century-long history.
This was another assignment, a hard news story with a surprising development.
I was originally supposed to cover one fraud incident, but during my interview with the Guelph police spokesperson I became aware of a separate incident that happened within 24 hours of the one I was assigned to write about.
With this new information in hand, I was able to adjust the angle of the piece to include both accounts of fraud.
Video
During coverage of this Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, I conducted interviews and shot b-roll.
I compiled the final edit and implemented the text and graphics on Adobe Premiere Pro.
Audio: Kitchener Rangers' Downtown Showdown
The audio piece that was played on CBC Kitchener-Waterloo's radio station was close to five minutes in length, this is an edited version that includes a sample of my voice work.
I interviewed officials and attendees at the Kitchener Rangers' Downtown Showdown event, gathered sound-ups and background audio, and cut clips together for broadcast.
