Nature - Marigolds

These are French marigolds, scientifically known as tagetes patula. As someone who lives in the country I have a wealth of potential for nature photos, but the shining orange of these flowers caught my eye. I used my Nikon DSLR for this photo with a 35mm lens, and tried to capture a impressionistic, painterly effect with a broad depth of field.

In researching this flower, I found out that marigolds are the official flower of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), so it fits well for a seasonal photo.
